GasApps HiFlo Unit
The GasApps HiFlo Unit is a flagship example of our design and manufacturing expertise. This project involved developing a highly specialized machine for the mixing, dispensing, and injection of a Phosphine/Air mixture, designed for use in large-scale sealed grain storage facilities (2,000 to 20,000 tonnes). It is a core product that embodies our commitment to innovation and precision in a critical industrial application.
A Deep Dive into its Creation
The journey to developing the HiFlo Unit was a response to the need for a safer and more efficient method of phosphine gas application in the agricultural sector. The goal was to create a system that not only provided superior fumigation performance with high-purity phosphine but also minimised risks for trained and licensed operators.
A key innovation in the HiFlo Unit is its ability to produce a non-flammable mixture of phosphine and air. This design was a critical step in creating a safer dispensing system. The final product is a robust and highly automated system that includes a phosphine mixer, two phosphine gas cylinders, and a source of carbon dioxide for purging.
The machine's design also focuses on a streamlined and reliable user experience. Instead of manual processes, the HiFlo Unit is controlled via an easy-to-use PLC touch screen. This allows operators to input a target phosphine weight to be dispensed, ensuring accuracy and consistency. The system also includes an integrated high-pressure fan and dual weighing platforms, which are essential for precise dispensing.
Prioritising Safety and Efficiency
Our engineers designed the HiFlo Unit with a comprehensive suite of safety interlocks to protect operators and equipment. The system will automatically shut down if it detects adverse conditions such as a drop in air flow, a tripped Variable Speed Drive, a high temperature in the mixing head, or a power failure. These features are a direct result of our dedication to creating safe, reliable technology for handling dangerous goods.
The system's efficiency is further enhanced by its unique features:
Max Flow Capacity: 6kg/hr of Phosphine/Air mixture [1% Ph3 in Air].
Automatic Cylinder Changeover: The system automatically switches between the two phosphine cylinders, ensuring they are completely emptied and no partial cylinders are left over.
Automated Purging: The unit performs automatic pre- and post-system purges using carbon dioxide to evacuate air and ensure a safe shutdown.
