Ripegas

Dose Calculation Guide

The Ripegas dose [in grams] to achieve 100ppm is two and half  times the room volume [in cubic metres].

Ripegas dose = 2.5g/m3 = 100ppm

For example, a ripening room with a volume of 30m3 would require 2.5 x 30 = 75 grams of Ripegas to achieve a concentration of 100ppm ethylene.

The BOC Capillary Timer Box # 730035 dispenses 0.4g/sec.

The timer should then be set at 75 / 0.4 = 188sec. [3min 8sec]

Suggested Application Guide

The BOC Ripegas Gun Kit #731020 delivers 16.5g/s when used with the Crack & Crevice Nozzle #730013 only, However this flow rate can be reduced down to 6g/s by using both the Crack & Crevice Nozzle with the Insert #730014

CO2 Build Up

Fruit gives off large amounts of CO2 while ripening. High levels of CO2 will restrict the ripening process and therefore ripening rooms must be vented every 12 hours. After each room venting process the Ripegas will again need to be added as per above suggestions.

Ripegas is a nonflammable mixture however care needs to be taken while venting ripening rooms.
